OP here and before I get flamed I want to make it clear once again I have no issues with breastfeeding infants AND toddlers but to me it is sick and honestly perverted to BF an 8 year old. Thank you for your time.

I think it's disgusting and I am a breast feeding supporter (not overly, but hey, if it's your thing, cool)... but 8 yrs old... that's like the kid saying, "Mom, can you wip your tit out, I'm thirsty." I think that is definitely taking it to the extremes. Breastfeeding didn't work out for me the first time, and while I hope it works out for me this time, I plan on doing it for a year. That's what AAP recommends, so that's what I will be trying for. I have relatives who nurse their kids till they're 2 years, and I think that's fine, too. Too much beyond that, and it just starts to seem a little odd to me. 8 years old, though?! I'm sorry, but that is NOT OK!!!

i agree op. i saw that and it made me feel like i was watching something i shouldnt be and me me feel slimy and grossed out.

I think its gross to breast feed if your child can sit up on your lap alone and drink from a cup, its been proven the benefits (immune boosters) are no longer in the milk after a few weeks of breast feeding anyway. If you want to cintinue to give it to your child fine but why cant they pump it into a cup? Why do they have to actually nurse?? THere is NO reasonable excuse that can be given as to why they cant pump it. So in my opinion it is abuse at that point.

Nasty and stupid

I went to a breast feeding group while my twins were nursing and there was a woman there breast feeding her five year old son while she was pregnant with her second. In real life, right in front of me! It amazed me that no one was even slightly shocked. This group also believed that it was OK to NOT begin solids until over a year old! Can you imagine having a two year old that has never even tasted real food?!?! I know that in third world countries they nurse their children for as long as they can and their society sees nothing wrong with it, but the difference is that they do it for purely nutritional purposes. I think that weman who nurse their children in the states that long do it because they want their children to be completely dependent on them for EVERYTHING... not a healthy reason! At two years old your child begins to keep memories long term... that is why psychologists recommend that you stop nursing by 18 mo. The whole subject is very controversial. Some people think that because other countries nurse until 5-8 years old, we should too. I think it's nuts! The reality is that our society is different and for your child's sake, just go with that.

If they're old enough to remember it, it's too old. That little girl is going to have some serious issues.

I saw something about it on youtube. I agree that breast feeding an 8 year old is really extreme! I have nothing against babies and young children. But once your kids are old enough to "name" your boobs then its time to stop. (I saw on the youtube video that the children had named her boobs and the mother said that they wouldn't let her wear a bra....).

I breast fed all my kids.. but after 6 months they were crawling around and moving it just didnt feel natural anymore. My oldest is about to turn 8 I couldnt imagine still nursing him. That is just sick and twisted. After a year or they are walking, its time to stop seriously grossing me out. EWWWW

The reality and facts of the matter are that immunological and nutritional benefits to breast milk far outlast and outweigh any other nutrition on the market. The benefits last until weaning takes place. The make up of the breast milk changes as the child ages and the nutritional needs change.

There is no harm at all in offering no solids until one year of age. There is no harm at all in breast feeding until both mother and child feel the need to wean.

The WHO recommends extended breast feeding until at least age two, with supplemental food beginning at 6 months of age.

Breast feeding is only "perverse" in the US and y'all have just proven that.
