After banning YouTube and other social Web sites on all overseas computers in May, citing bandwidth and security issues, the U.S. military on Tuesday launched TROOP TUBE, an alternative video-sharing Web site for troops, their families, and supporters. Have any of you tried it??? Let us know! We'd love to post your trooptube videos here on TMWC!

My husband really wants to re-up again. This time for good. I think the military has been good for us but the deployments are long. Confused??

Maybe he can reenlist for orders to something non-deployable or at least something with shorter deployments.
He can be an AIT instructor, and that will free you guys of deployments for approximately 3 years. He could take some type of cadre position on a training post, and that is non-deployable as well. If he's up for it and you guys don't mind insane hours, he could even go to Drill Sergeant school. Drill Sergeant tours are three years, and they are non-deployable.
There are also plenty of units which do shorter deployments. My husband was just selected for some unit we had no idea existed, but we're really happy about it, because their deployments are like 3-8 months long, and not very frequent. That sure beats the 12-15 months he's been doing every other year since the beginning of the war (three of those tours to be exact). It is a joint-branch unit, so they don't run on Army schedules. There are actually more units like with shorter tours than you probably think.
Have your husband talk very seriously with his reenlistment NCO, and don't take no for an answer on getting what you guys want, which is a break from these deployments. You CAN get that, or at least find an assignment in a unit which deploys for a shorter amount of time if his MOS is needed by such a unit. It's a matter of just not taking no for an answer, and really getting what you want. It can be done! Go for it!!
Thanxs. I talked to my DH and he is going to sign up for drill sgt school when he comes home off this deployment, but at least he will be guaranteed stateside for a few years. Just hope its what he really wants. I can just support him and hope he makes the rite decision.
Wow..I'm in the same boat as you are..hes talking a LOT about wanting to reenlist, but I honestly cant deal with anymore deployments!!! I had NO idea he could re-up and be guaranteed state side!!! Thats wonderful news!I think he tried explaining that to me, but I wasn't really following.
