Sarah Palin for VP? - Many are cheering for another woman taking center stage, and many are worried that this is a woman who's been promoted for the wrong reasons and is going to be blamed when things don't go right.

over the weekend, I went to Fort Benning to see my husband. He' in basic training. It was so good to see him after 2 months. I have one more month yet to go until he graduates. It is so hard being away from him and its only 2 and a half months. And i know within the next 5-6 months he's gonna be deployed to Iraq or Afganistan. I have no idea how Im going to deal with that. Im new at this whole being away from the husband thing. I dont know how im going to get through his deployment. But man, i had an amazing time with him. He looked so different, and acted so differnt. But i had no problems with it. I just miss him so much.

umm how special do you hav eto be in order to meet your SH while he is on bootcamp? When I went through bootcamp we couldn't meet anyone.
Since when did they start allowing visitation during Basic? I wasn't allowed to see my husband until "family day" the day before graduation and after his graduation. Did they change the rules?
My brother just went through basic last summer and they were a little to busy for visitors. Must be nice.

not only the basic thing, but if he still have 2 1/2 months in basic.. how could he deploy in 5 months? my husband isn't in the army so i don't know.. but doesn't army have a type of tech school? i think they call it ait? that only leaves 2 1/2 months for that.... and don't they need a certain time in training first??
Maybe she meant Tech School? She's obviously new to this, so it's very possible she got mixed up.
My hubby was at Benning for Basic, and he was granted a 36 hour pass for the weekend. I got to see him 2 times during basic.
Must be nice to have so much free time during basic.
When I was in, I barely had time to write a letter, let alone spend time with my family.
I think her timeframe is a little off, but what she's talking about is OSUT One Station Unit Training (it's army basic training and AIT "tech school" combined) Since he's at Benning, he's most likely infantry. They do basic and AIT all at once, which is usually like 14-16 weeks total, but around the time when they would have graduated basic (if the two weren't combined) they have a Family Day where people can come visit for a day or so instead of having a regular Basic training graduation ceremony. Then they continue on for like 4-5 weeks more and graduate OSUT, and go straight to their first duty station, which if he is infantry, could easily mean deploying in 5-6 months.
So no... they don't get free time to see people in Basic, they just have that one Family Day pass in OSUT to replace the time everyone else gets when they graduate basic training and then going somewhere else for AIT.
