After banning YouTube and other social Web sites on all overseas computers in May, citing bandwidth and security issues, the U.S. military on Tuesday launched TROOP TUBE, an alternative video-sharing Web site for troops, their families, and supporters. Have any of you tried it??? Let us know! We'd love to post your trooptube videos here on TMWC!

My two children and I need assistance in flying to see my husband/their dad before he leaves for Iraq.

I am beyond stressed that we won't have enough money to fly several states away to see him.

Look into Space Available flights. I don't know if you are allowed, since your DH isn't active duty. But it's possible.

Why don't you leave them with someone? That's why I don't want kids, I can do what I want when I want, they are waaay too expensive and not worth it in IMO.

ok dont listen to poster #2, she obviously already has kids. so dont drown her with your opinion about why you dont want them..k thanks.

anyways im not sure about guards.reserve, but can you check in to an AER loan? call military one source and im sure they may can help you or guide you.

Jesus 9:35 if you were going for biggest asshole of the evening you certainly won!

not worth it..LOL oh please. when my kids look me in the eyes and say "i love you mommy" its SO worth it!

dont like kids...get a gold fish, cause even a dog would require more emotion than you are willing or capable of.

I am the original poster and have to LMAO at poster 9:35... Wow..

I looked into Space A and because it a standby flight and the nearest base is 3 1/2 hours away we can't risk not getting onto one. Also, it would require a signed paper from my husbands commander and such to do it also. Space A recommends having a back up plan financially and to be prepared to pay for a ticket home. It also says to be prepared to possibly be in a high costing airport also.

Since we aren't just having a "come as you please" visit we can't risk Space A and not leave in time.

We are looking into a loan right now.

Look into a loan, contact the FRG, contact your local Am Vets or VFW.

Is one under 2 at all, cause then one can sit on your lap and the other can have their own seat so you only have to pay for 2 seats. just a thought.

Original Poster here: There is not a FRG at this moment. All of the other wives are in the same boat as I am.

Why am I an ass, is it not true that children are expensive? Is it not true they limit your freedom, but hey if their smiles are worth not being able to see your husband, enjoy the smiles. Ofcourse that will end when they are teenagers.

Can you drive? Perhaps you can carpool and share the expense. Flying is not the only option you know!

Anonymous said:

3:16 We will be driving if we can't afford plane tickets. Gas alone will probably be around $600-$800 round trip. Not including a hotel mid way.

My spouse is attached to this unit so there is not another wife to car pool with. I don't know them and they don't know me. Also, I have 2 children so I would have 1 seat available.

Driving will still put us into financial hardship.

Thank you for all of the helpful suggestions though from everyone!!

Oh and 9:35/2:54: I still think it is funny how you are being all "hard ass" about people having children and saying they limit them. Uh, YOU were a child before. Hello?

Anonymous said:

Nope, I was never a child. That is the dumbest come back I've ever heard. Sure I was child, I have a friend that was a drug addict, so why does it matter what we used to be.... typical come back of a dumb person. So they don't limit you? Because that's what you just said in your post.
Your "hard ass" commentor. HUGE eye roll.

see if he can get a advancement through the military... you pay for it out of your paycheck with no interest rate.
