After banning YouTube and other social Web sites on all overseas computers in May, citing bandwidth and security issues, the U.S. military on Tuesday launched TROOP TUBE, an alternative video-sharing Web site for troops, their families, and supporters. Have any of you tried it??? Let us know! We'd love to post your trooptube videos here on TMWC!
In honor of Veteran's Day - and the start of Veteran's Appreciation week - we'd like to take a moment to thank the men and women (and their families) who have served or continue to serve in the armed...
My husband was talking about volunteering for recruiter duty. I don't want him doing that. I feel our marriage is strong but I hear sooo many horror stories about it especially about all the cheating husbands with the poolies. My brother was a recruiter in the Army and he told me about all the shady stuff that happens and one of my best friend's husband was a Marine recruiter and she pretty much told me the same things my brother told me especially about all the girls that come onto them and offer to sleep with them even the mothers! I secretly hope he changes his mind.

recruiters are hot!
All that stuff sounds crazy! People offering to sleep with the recruiters, etc? WTF? When I enlisted, it never occurred to me that recruiters might go for that sort of thing, or that enlistees might try that... My recruiter actually had his wife and daughter at work with him the day he sent me to MEPS, so I guess I just keep that image with me, and have always regarded the recruiting process as pretty clean and straight-up. None of my female soldier/prior service friends have done anything with their recruiters either.
I mean, I'm sure there are incidents where things do happen. Nothing is perfect. I just can't imagine it's all that common, though, that recruiting is basically an open invitation to the ass buffet. I could be mistaken, but it just sounds weird to me.
Oh wow, the mothers even offer to have sex?! What?!
Call me naive but are you saying that the woman/girls would have sex with the recruiter to get a better rank? Or to just go after him like a piece of meat?
Heres the thing, any woman can offer to sleep with your husband all they want, its your husband that has to take the bait. My husband is trying not to be placed as a Recruiter because of the long hours and endless paperwork and BS, not because some slut wants to get her rocks off w/a member of the military.
I have heard true stories about these incidents as well. Seriously.
My husband's original recruiter got dishonorably discharged because his pregnant wife walked in on him with one of the DEP girls. I've never heard of the mothers offering, but with the way some women act, it wouldn't surprise me.
OMG! my husband was just talking about volunteering. NO WAY.....thanks for posting this because it seems like it is one of those "marine only" things they keep hush-hush from the wives I know no one ever warned me, I would have walked blindly into that one!
I agree with 10:50 although I have heard those same horror stories.
So, why are they getting offered sex all the time? I don't get it?
My husband was on RA waaay back when, and the recruiter he was working for just got discharged from the Corps for taking inappropriate pictures of female poolees. Another recruiter in the same office asked me to hook him up with one of my girlfrieds (he had a wife and two kids. Ick.
ok I confess.....I was a recruit who slept with my Recruiter. I am in no way proud of that fact now! So please no mean comments I beg. I just turned 18 and lived in a tiny town in Texas and my young impressionable mind ate up every word that man said! He seemed so unattainable in that uniform, and to get the kind of attention recruiters give when they are trying to get some one to enlist becomes pretty flattering for a young girl. Anyways not till after i joined and went through some life experiences i realized what a jerk that man was and the fact that I know I wasn't the first or the last. I can't believe I really thought his stories of a love less marriage to a cold hearted bitch (his words) were true. Anyways....If you have good relasionship you should be fine cheating can happen anywhere and any time. Good luck!
My husband was a recruiter in Texas, I hated it, I HATED LIFE SOOO MUCH! Good luck if you decide to do it. The cheating was horrible out there. The moms were in line just with the young girls! :(
Wow 3:51, I'm so sorry for you. It sounds like you made it through and haven't let that incident mess up your life, though. Glad to see a strong woman who can see mistakes in her past and not use them as a way to make people feel sorry for her. Way to act like an adult! Of course your recruiter is a piece of shit but he'll get his someday...
I wouldn't want my husband doing it. They have to deal with so much dumb crap and horrible hours.
Mine just volunteered for hometown recruiter (due to some extended family problems that will require us to be in our hometown alot next year).
Regardless of the rumors....it comes down to the trust you have in eachother. I don't understand why anyone would 'worry' about thier spouse cheating if they trusted them. If the new recruiters throw the bait....and your husband is weak enough (or scumbag enough) to fall for it...you deserve better than him!!!
Besides...as often as our men are being deployed, 3 yrs of NO DEPLOYMENTS has to be worth the long hours you will face as a being a recruiter family.
sighs....atleast i hope so. His packet is in review and is going through security clearance as we speak.
My husband was a recruiter back in the day for the army, but he has never told me of any of this.
12:51 sounds like you can't trust your husband!
We just left recruiting back in March and I am so happy he is no longer doing that. We had a lot of stress in our marriage b/c of it. There was so much BS going on and the hours suck major balls. I would have rather my husband to have been deployed than in recruiting. He hated what he did, and he would also tell you, he wanted to deploy.
I have seen first hand at the girls throwing themselves at the recruiters. I called them their groupies and it became an on going joke.
I'm sure if we would have been somewhere other than where we were, it would have been easier. They couldn't make their numbers at times, like some other places could. Good luck to you!
OP here. Just to clarify my brother and my best friend's husband were recruiters stationed in areas where there was no military bases. I guess maybe it was the idea that a Solider or Marine is a hero figure and maybe the man-in-uniform image. I don't know. I know my brother would not lie about being solicited all the time. He told me it pretty much happened almost everyday. I am not talking about the women who want to seriously join the military. I am not saying that all women are like that but he told me that certain women would lead him on about being interested in joining the military. They would hang out at the office and flirt like crazy even in front of his wife. He told me the young high school girls were really sexually aggressive toward him. It caused many many problems in his marriage. One girl even threatened to report him beacause he turned down her advances toward him.
My best friend's husband actually did cheat on her with a girl he put in the Marine Corps. They had 3 kids together and they ended up working things out. Recruiting is a very high stress job and you barely get to see your spouse. He told his wife that he felt vunerable and so stressed and in a way it was a distraction from all the stress. (which is major bullcrap, I think) but I guess that was his reasoning. The bottom line is both of them said that they would rather have deployed for 3 years straight then to be on recruting duty.
However if that is what my husband chooses to do then I will support him and leave things in God's hands that things will be ok.
i'd fuck a recruiter ina minnit. so long's he's hawt
My DH is currently a recruiter. Trust me, I am counting the days until it is over. Women do throw themselves at him all the time - as well as young girls - AND their MOTHERS. I have no worries there though ;) It is hard, I would rather have him deployed than this crap. The stress it puts on him and the entire family is hard!
