Welcome to ask a mod. If you ask a question or provide feedback with the word "mods" in it, it will be posted in this blog. This week we've had a major issue with comments and response posts. Please read below for our new policies.

Q:Why is user allowed to call people names, yet he's still here? Why are the mods so biased towards him?

Q:Woah Mods---user called someone a cunt. Can we seriously have comment moderation please?!

Q:MODS: Can you do something about the poster who responds to a lot of the confessions whining about "response post?" It's irritating to click on the comments button, thinking there are real comments, only to find that there.

Q: Mods: Are we allowed to just blatantly call someone on the site and idiot? Please look at confession

Q: Mods please user. She just called someone stupid. I'm tired of rude users. Can you please moderate comments?

Q: MODS: are we allowed to use such language as comment number (user) did in her comment to confessions in the body section? I was shocked, to be honest.

Q: MODS: Can you remove 689425? I'm the OP and the comments are pretty hurtful so I'd rather not chance anyone else writing on it. Thank you.

A: I’m not biased towards anyone on this site. No one is allowed to do any name calling in comments, and there’s no way to moderate comments in our backend. But they are getting out of control. If we get too many more complaints about comments we may have to remove the option to comment altogether. Comments were supposed to be a way for users to support one another and express sympathy, but they’re pretty much just used to attack users and make them feel worse. The vast majority of our users are afraid to leave comments open.

Afraid, ladies. That’s the atmosphere that’s been created here. Truu is supposed to be your anonymous best friend, but we get emails DAILY from people saying they’re leaving the site because of how badly they were judged in the comments. And there’s been another disturbing trend of people emailing in to whine that so-and-so didn’t leave comments open so I couldn’t give them a piece of my mind/correct their facts/whatever. Tons of response posts are started with “Yeah, this is a response post but you didn’t leave comments open..”

Guys, people don’t HAVE to leave comments open. You don’t have the right to respond to any post you want in the confessional. In not posting those responses I’m not being biased or denying you the right to free speech as one user told me. Those are the rules of this website.

Unless we see a MAJOR change in how comments are handled, I don’t know how much longer they’re going to be around. I have sent warnings to all users involved and to those who have already gotten warnings have been banned. But I do that every week, and it seems that more users pop out of the woodwork that think it’s okay to be judgmental and mean. That’s not what this site is about, and I’m done dealing with that. I’m done with warnings. You all know the rules of this site. Post a response post and you’re banned. Call someone a name or be super judgmental in the comments and you’re banned. And that’s if we still have comments in the coming weeks. Worried that something you’re posting may come off as a response post or mean? Don’t add a disclaimer, just don’t post it.

Q:MODS - 85963 might be spam. ?

A: Maybe. It’s either spam, or someone who’s just proud they came up with that idea. But it does have the name of a site, so I’ll take it down.

Q:MODS: why was confession posted with blatant misinformation about fluoride in toothpaste, but my post about fluoride actually not being poisonous unless you drank it wasn't? Confession didn't leave room for comments.

A: Because it’s a response. We don’t allow response confessions. I don’t always catch responses and for that, I’m sorry, but yours was very clearly a response post. Good fact to know though. I’ve always heard conflicting things about fluoride. Hopefully people will read it here.

People don’t have to leave comments open, and it’s important to remember that every single fact you read on truu could be wrong. Not a single thing that is posted is checked for accuracy by anyone working at this website. Please be aware of this, and use reliable sources before drinking fluoride or trying any other ANYTHING you’ve read about on this website.

Q:Boy, there is a lot of censorship by the mods on this site.

A: There really isn’t. The only stuff that doesn’t get through is blatantly bigoted confessions or VERY clear response posts.

Q:MODS: seriously, truu 301603 in the Body Section, was allowed through? Suggesting meth as a safe way to lose weight? Really? I'd suggest You remove it ASAP!

A: I figured the confessor was poking fun at unsafe diet drugs, not seriously recommending meth. But if it can be taken that way, I’ll remove it.

Q:HI MODS -- I made a post in singles about being in the middle between family and friends. I ended it with something about why can't they let me not pick sides. I don't see it. Am I blind or did the question make it flagged for the talk of the day?

A: If it was advice seeking then it didn’t get published unless it made talk of the day. Keep trying! I’ll keep an eye out for it and post it as Monday’s talk if it’s still floating around

Q:Mods: Please stop allowing judgmental posts about the Batman shooting through. There's no reason for them. The victims have enough to deal with WITHOUT being assigned blame by random people on the internet.

A: Agreed. This whole thing is making me sick. A three month old gets shot and the first thing people do is blame the parents? I mean, of all the things to focus on? People just died, a bunch of other people were just injured, and THIS is the first thing people jump on?
A few users have pointed out that we have this tendency to blame the victims because it makes us feel safe. That makes sense, but it’s still very upsetting.

Q:MODS: What is your view on having an affair? Some people say that people sometimes cheat just because it's FUN and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't understand how anyone can advocate it. Cheating is an act of horrific betrayal. If your DH or DW never finds out about it, it's still horrific. You still did it and you betrayed them and put them at risk. But that's my opinion, what's yours?

A: I agree with you. Cheating is a horrible betrayal, and no one deserves to go through that. Cheaters also put their partners health at risk by having sex with someone else.

Q:Mods: what is the most horrific, disgusting and intriguing confession youve ever read? Or make it a hot topic so we can post our most memorable.

A: I’ll have to put that as the talk of the day on Monday. The most horrifying confession I’ve ever read wasn’t published. I can’t go into much detail but it was pretty incestuous and WAY to descriptive. We also used to get random spam that was literally quotes from erotic romance novels. Reading some of those sentences with no context... yeah.

Q:Why was 690073 not posted? It didn't violate any rules. Oh mods, you say you do your job, but when someone comments that there is no compassion on this site that doesn't go through, but a million response posts and posts attacking other users still go through. I find it kind of funny actually.

A: Yeah, confessing about how other people on this site react to confessions IS a response confession. I don’t catch a lot of response confessions, but this was a pretty blatant response

Q:Mods: why didn't my post about Obama being rich get posted yet another one stating vaguely that all politicians are rich did?

A: Your post referenced another confession, the other one didn’t. We try to err on the side of the user, so yeah, the post that got through was most likely a response to the exact same post you were responding to, there was a chance it wasn’t. You’re not wrng through, Obama is rich.

Q:Yo mods truu689773 is inflammatory and frankly we (the users) have been down this road one too many times already.

A: Okay, I’ve removed it. Technically it speaks out against a particular group of people, so there are grounds.

Q:Mods: 689470 is a word for word response post.

A: Thanks for the heads up, I’ve removed it.

Q:MODS, has anyone else mentioned having problems logging in from their iPhone? I haven't been able to log in for a while now.

A: I haven’t seen any other complaints, but I’ll forward your issue to our tech guy right away.

Q:MODS: I'm a little worried about the person who is using Truu as research for a sociology paper. This place isn't appropriate for acadamic purposes. You can't ask people things, you can't observe them, you don't know who is posting what, or what their motive is, or if they're trolling, etc. I know there are people here who write in a different style than they normally do, include false information, deliberately make spelling mistakes, or even make COMPLETELY fake confessions. You aren't going to be able to get anything usable from here for a reliable research project. Amirite?

A: Most likely. But who knows, maybe she’s researching the unreliability of the internet?

Q:MODS: Why did confession #689420 get re-posted? This confession matches this confession to a T and I doubt the original user of this confession actually re-post this. http://www1.truuconfessions.com/channels/Mom/confession/confession (Original confession matching this newly posted confession).

A: I don’t know. It is different computers that posted it, so I removed it. But a lot of times people will repost a confession if they forgot to allow comments or something.

Q:MOds: 689412 is a response post.

A:Thanks for the heads up. I removed it.

Q:689314..MODS..i accidently flagged this.

A: No problem. It’s still up :)

Q:Mods, I wonder if there could be a "shameless self-pluggery" blog. :-) Just the one blog, like moving any other over done topic, maybe with a little tab on the side. I'm sure there are a lot of musicians, writers, etc, that would like to share their stuff. (This is not to call you out on using the blog to self-promote, but your comment on it in the Ask A Mod gave me the idea).

A: I actually suggested it way back when my first story was put on amazon. I invited any users who had something to share to email us and got nothing. The offer still stands though, I think Shameless Wednesdays could be a thing.

Q:Mods: confession 689133 is aimed at me. Personally. And not gonna lie, it stings a bit. Can you remove it?

A: I’ve removed it. Thanks for the heads up.
