The Dean of my medical school spoke to our entering first year class. Her best advice? Don't fall in love, don't fall behind. I thought she was joking about the first part, but no, she truly recommended not falling in love seeing as the divorce rate is so high. She thinks that since half marriages end in divorce we should focus on our careers. Med school would be so much harder if my FH wasn't here to love and support me (and do the laundry and cleaning!) I feel sorry for our dean, having never met anyone who makes her life easier and more enjoyable.
