shareI don't mind when people make their opinions and preferences known. It's just when they steamroll through with no respect for what we want that I have a problem. (For example, FMIL said "you know, it would be traditional to (insert something here)" and fiance said "That doesn't work for us, Mum". End of discussion. Beautiful. Respectful)
I had a terrible nightmare about FMIL last night. In it she popped up unannounced and screamed non-stop insults to my face while I stood there shocked and crying. This is pretty much a metaphor for our real-life relationship, which is why we have no contact. I'm glad she lives thousands of miles away, but the dream was still so upsetting.
My MIL and I got along really well when DH and I were dating, whenever we were planning the wedding we did not get along at all because MIL somehow forgot the wedding was about the bride and the groom and not her and her friends whom my husband barely knew. Now that the wedding is over we get along great again, but she had never apologized for all the crap she put me through during our engagement.
Melt 2bsp butter in a skillet, add 2 tbsp flour and stir until all flour is incorporated-add 1c milk & stir until flour breaks up-stir in 1c shredded swiss cheese-stir until melted-add 1 1/2c cubed leftover turkey-season to taste with salt & pepper. Spoon onto leftover dinner rolls, either warm or cold, for creamy turkey & swiss sammich's. Yummy! (Brides gotta eat too, right?)
My MIL wore a white dress to my wedding. The truth is I could have cared less, she is the one who looked like an idiot. Most of the guests were commenting on how tacky she was. Either way it didn't take away from my dress, my day or my wonderful marriage.
I'm MOH in my bestfriends wedding on Sunday. Since I'm a student this is dead week (last week b4 finals), then taking the lSAT on Saturday morning, driving 300 miles for the wedding. Then wedding & reception. Then leaving super early Monday to get home & cram for my 4 finals on Tue, Wed & Thursday. This is going to be fun...not. But I'm so happy for her so its worth it.
