I find it odd that most people who hear about my engagment ask how he proposed. I guess I always wonder how it happens when I hear of an engament but I never think to ask. I feel like is is talking about money, you want to know, but it is rude to ask. I am sure I am just being weird and it is not rude to ask, but I feel it is private and feel really uncomfortable telling people he proposed quietly on a Sunday morning as we were lounging in bed. I also will be asying my vows in private. Just the kind of couple we are.

I found my engagment ring before he proposed. I only opened the box than shut it quickly. Didn't get a good look at all. I managed to go 2 days before confessing. he wasn't mad and admitted he hadn't hid it well.It was no grand gesture like he planned but it's still our story, at least it's a little unique.

I paid for my own engagement ring. DH paid the down payment and set up a payment plan. As soon as he proposed I went to the jeweler and paid it off as my engagment present to him. I also picked it out. The store let me pick out my top 3 and wrote them on a card to give to him. I have particular tastes and I plan on wearing this ring forever. By that time we had already combined our money, but I had more in savings. DH appreciated it and I was happy to do it. We've been married almost 5 years and DH does a wonderful job supporting us (I'm a SAHM). Paying for your own ring isn't always bad.

I dont understand why you have to have a billion different parties before the wedding. I mean really?! An engagment part, bridal party, bachelor/ette parties, rehersal dinner and then the wedding itself. Thats way too much planning and money to be spend. were doing rehersal dinner and wedding only. all the other stuff is unnessesary to us. Am I the only one to think this?!

Got my new ring today!!! It is amazing! He made me breakfast in bed and popped the question. Our engagment finally feels real, and now i can start planning our wedding! Im am so in love!

we always planned on a long engagment and up till now (3yrs engaged) I have been ok with waiting. But lately I have had wedding fever...I can't get it off my mind!! I cannot wait to start planning next year!
