Confessions for Showing 1 - 10 of 90
I feel so stupid admitting this. When I have my kid's birthday parties at my house I have a credenza I use as a cake table. I like to make it a gorgeous display with balloons, matching table cloth, etc. I am having a hell of a time making everything match the theme I am having this time. It is really bugging me!! Please shake me & tell me to chill out, because I am the only one who cares.
Speaking of birthday parties, I went to a party for my sisters kid, I only had 10 dollars so I put it in a birthday card and gave it to her, the kid said to me " You are a cheapskate is that all you have?' I have never been to another one of theirs since. It hurt my feelings.
I saw pictures of myself at my birthday parties as a small child. Sure I looked like I was having fun... but I don't remember any of it! I didn't even know what my birthday was till I was 5 I think or what it really meant.
My kids don't get huge birthday parties. We do dinner at home. I make what they request and a homemade cake. We then go out to dinner on the weekend to the restaurant of their choice with some close family... Grandparents and aunts and uncles. They get a small gift and life goes on. Sorry my kids bdays don't live up to your expectations, but I don't want them to grow up thinking they need this huge party with tons of gifts from people we barely know. I think you over do it with the costumes, beauty palor visit beforehand, etc for a 2 year old. Is the party about you or her?
If you ask me children's birthday parties have just gotten way out of hand. My DD6 got an invitation to a "spa party". She's six! Does a six year old need a pedicure? I think not.
I wish that one of my kids had been born in the spring or summer, but they were both born in the winter. All indoor birthday parties for us. I wish we could rent a jump house for a birthday party.
I saw someone asking on FB how much people typically spent on birthday parties and I was floored at the answers. We usually around $100 and I feel like even that is more than I want to spend, but most people $200-$300! Good golly, when I was kid my parties were always simple at-home affairs, why have we gotten so elaborate?
Since when did kids birthday parties become competitions?! The more expensive the better? I am sorry, but I will not go broke over my kids party.
